Arthur David Sponsors of the Bath good food awards

Arthur David Headline Sponsor For Bath Good Food Awards 2017

On 24th September 2017, Arthur David attended the Bath Good Food awards 2017 as the main sponsor of the event. The annual event held at the City of Bath Hotel exists to recognise the best in food and drink around Bath.

In addition to our sponsorship, we were delighted to award two passionate individuals with bursaries to support their future in the industry. Find out more about the event, the award winners and our bursary recipients.

“We are delighted to be the main sponsor of this year’s Bath Good Food Awards. We work with many of the nominees each year on a daily basis, we understand just how important they are to the Bath food scene. It is vital that as key suppliers we offer our support, and would like to wish all nominees the best of luck.” – Jon Evans, Arthur David

The Judging Process

The Bath Good Food awards were open to any restaurant, café or deli within the BA postcode area. Following a public vote for their desired winner of each category, a shortlist of 5-10 from each was then announced.

Judges of each category then went (anonymously) to dine at the chosen establishments and decided on their winner – this was then finalised by the overall judging panel and announced on the night.

Supporting Talent The Industry

The winners of each category weren’t the only triumphs of the evening: To support the industry that we so love, we offered two £4,800 bursaries to support two special individuals passionate about their line of work.

Applicants who wrote in then had to face a 30-minute interview from Chris Hull (Bath Good Food founder), Angela Mount (wine expert), Ryan Hanson (chef) and our very own development chef, Steve Shore, who then decided who the bursary would be granted to.

The first bursary was given to Luke Sheperd (pictured below) of the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. Luke had been quick to settle in at the company and became a natural in his short time there, the bursary from Arthur David will go towards further training and development for Luke in the art of cheesemaking.

The second bursary was granted to Lynne Atkins, a wine enthusiast who will be using the bursary to complete her level 3 in wine with the wine & spirit education trust – with the view of completing a diploma in wine afterwards – amazing!
