Arthur David Headline Sponsors of Bristol Good Food Awards 2018

On 25th of February 2018, we were delighted to attend the Bristol Good Food Awards 2018 as headline sponsors. The awards, which are set up to recognise and celebrate the best food and drink in the region saw producers, cafes and restaurants nominated by the public face a team of judges to be crowned winners in their respective categories.

In addition to our sponsorship of the event, we gifted two deserving individuals with a bursary of £4,800 to further develop their skills and career opportunities within the industry.

“We are delighted to be the main sponsor of this year’s Bristol Good Food Awards. We work with many of the nominees each year on a daily basis, we understand just how important they are to the Bristol food scene. It is vital that as key suppliers we offer our support, and would like to wish all nominees the best of luck.”Jon Evans, Arthur David

The Judging Process

Like many of the other Good Food awards events that we sponsor, the Bristol Good Food Awards had a three-tiered judging process that started with a public vote for nominations of each category online or by post.

Once these votes had been taken into consideration, a shortlist of 8 – 10 nominees for each category is then drafted; these nominated establishments were then be visited by a judge anonymously to score them based on aspects such as style and variety of menu, speed and quality of service and value for money.

The judges then put forward a winner and highly commended runner up for each of their categories, to be finally decided on by the award’s elite judging panel. The judging panel was made of up of chefs, food journalists, foodie bloggers and our very own in-house development chef Steve Shore.

For the award category where it was produce being judged, shortlisted nominees would be asked to send in a sample of their produce to face a similar level of judging before the winner was decided.
