Arthur David Name Devon’s Best Chef at Devon Life Food and Drink Awards 2017

On November 2nd 2017, Arthur David attended and sponsored a category at the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards 2017, an annual competition set up to celebrate the best food and drink Devon has to offer.

Fudge, clotted cream, beer, fresh seafood and top-notch sausages – Devon really is known for some fantastic produce, so the competition was tough as ever.

Find out more about the event, our sponsorship and the worthy winners of each category at the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards.

The Judging Process

As with the other annual life food and drink awards, winning the award starts in the hands of the public, allowing them to nominate and vote online for who they think is the deserving winner of each category.

Once nominations are finalised through the public vote, the judges whittle it down to just three finalists for each category. Finally, after anonymous visits from the judges, the winner is chosen and announced on the night.

The Winners

After the judging process, nominated restaurants, chefs and suppliers from all over Devon gathered at the black-tie event where the winners were announced. The winners of each category were as follows:

Best Drinks Product – Salcombe Gin Best Food Product – Lj’s Pantry Best Hotel Restaurant – Lympstone Manor
Best Independent Food Retailer – Veg In a Box Best Local Producer – Riverford Best Pub – The Pyne Arms
Best Restaurant – Riverford Field Kitchen Best Devon Sunday Roast – Tom Cobley Tavern Best Chef – Luke Fearon

Our Sponsorship

As we deliver exceptional fresh and frozen produce to so many chefs across the region, we thought it fitting to provide sponsorship for the ‘Best Chef’ category at the awards.

The award for best chef went to Luke Fearon of the Treby Arms, runners-up for the award were Ben Palmer of the Greedy Goose, and Scott Paton of Boringdon Hall – we’d like to extend our massive congratulations to all three of these talented chefs.
