As a business, Arthur David, Food with Service has always emphasised the importance of people: our customers, employees, wider community and across the world. The needs of others will always be our focus.
Directly connected to this is the climate emergency we find ourselves in. We have always been aware of the critical need for minimising the environmental impact we have as a business and as individuals, but we have now finally been able to commit the resources and time to adapting the company and making our operations as efficient as they can be, without compromising the state of the planet and its people.
We now have a Sustainability Officer in place, who is reviewing all aspects of the business to identify and implement the necessary changes. This includes, but is by no means limited to: waste management, reducing single-use materials, with a focus on plastic, calculating, monitoring and reducing our carbon footprint, sourcing products from ethical suppliers with a similar vision to ours, switching to renewable energy where possible, minimising food waste, increasing charity support and working towards recognisable accreditations that will both monitor and support our changes.
We have a long way to go and we are under no illusion that this will be fixed overnight: there will always be something more we can do to ensure we are demonstrating climate justice at every opportunity, but we are truly excited and ready to take on the challenge.
