It’s British Pie Week 4-10th March 2024 – and We’re Celebrating!

As the calendar flips to March, pie lovers across the UK are delighted by the arrival of a cherished celebration: British Pie Week. And what better way to honour this tradition than by indulging in the delicious creations of Pieminister? With their unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, Pieminister is the perfect partner for savouring the joys of British pie week.

British Pie Week, established in 2007, pays homage to one of the nation's go-to meals, the humble pie. From savoury classics to inventive modern twists, pies have long held a special place in British homes, and British Pie Week offers a chance to celebrate their rich heritage and enduring popularity.

At Pieminister, every pie is a work of art, meticulously crafted by hand using only the finest locally sourced ingredients. Whether it's succulent British beef, tender free-range chicken, or a medley of fresh vegetables, Pieminister takes pride in ensuring that each element of their pies is of the highest quality. From the golden, flaky pastry to the rich, flavourful fillings, every bite is a testament to their dedication to craftsmanship and quality.

British Pie Week is the perfect time to explore Pieminister's diverse menu, which offers a tantalizing array of flavours and options to suit every palate. From traditional favourites like steak and ale to creative concoctions like the "Wild Shroom" (wild British mushrooms, asparagus, and white wine).

Pieminister's commitment to catering to diverse dietary preferences ensures that everyone can join in the festivities. With a range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available, there's no shortage of delicious pies to enjoy during British Pie Week and beyond.

As we celebrate the joy of pies, it's also important to consider the impact of our food choices on the planet. Fortunately, Pieminister shares this commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. They prioritize sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and farmers who adhere to high environmental and ethical standards, ensuring that their pies are not only delicious but also socially responsible.

We were lucky enough last week to catch up with Jon Simon, Co-founder and MD of Pieminister (who’s been at the business for 20 years, since they began) and he answered some burning pie questions:

  1. What is your favourite pie? It’s almost impossible to choose just one, and our three new filo pastry pies (packed with heaps of veg from A David!) could soon become my summer favourites.  But right now, I can’t resist a Free Ranger pie – lots of succulent free range British chicken and ham in a rich cheesy sauce with leeks and herbs.
  2. How long have Pieminister now been in business? It’s been exactly 20 years since I started making pies in Bristol with my brother-in-law Tristan. Time flies when you’re having fun!
  3. How will you be celebrating Pie Week at Pieminister? We’re inviting our customers to Spin The Wheel this week when they visit our restaurants, for a chance to win all sorts of prizes, from pie feasts to badges to having us bake a batch of the winner’s dream designer pie for a party with their mates!
  4. What makes Pieminister stand out from the crowd when it comes to your pies? We go beyond just making sure they’re delicious because we really care about the quality of the ingredients we source and where we source them from. It’s really important to us that we’re doing everything we can to be socially and sustainably responsible while making sure our pies taste amazing! And that as many people as possible can tuck into one of our pies, which is why we have gluten free and plant-based pies as well as our free range British meat and vegetarian ones.
