Romanesco
Though it looks more like cauliflower in texture and form, Romanesco’s taste is more like broccoli – mild and nutty with sweeter notes that lend well to savoury pairings. An easy way to use it is to roast with olive oil, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Delica Squash
Delica Squash are irregularly sized and all different and unique in their appearance, with green and grey skin. The flavour of their vibrantly orange-coloured flesh is splendidly sweet and remains firm when cooked, which makes them such prized members of the pumpkin family.
Rainbow Chard
Raw chard tastes very similar to spinach but can have a bitter taste. Cooking the chard helps to remove the bitterness, and will give the vegetable a sweet, earthy flavour, similar to a beet.
Courgette Flowers
Courgette Flowers are the delicate, golden-yellow flowers of the courgette plant. These edible blooms are soft, fragile, and have a subtle courgette flavour with a slight vegetal sweetness.
Rainier Cherries
Rainier Cherries taste different to black/dark red cherries, they are still sweet but the flesh is a mixture of oranges, whites and yellows, they are ever so slightly reminiscent of a peach or nectarine but the flavour is still distinctly that of a cherry. They are certainly worth trying!
White Bunched Grelots
A little larger and with a more bulbous shape than spring onions, Grelots have a mild sweet taste. Delicious both raw and cooked, slice thinly to sprinkle over salads, pickle in a light balsamic or confit in oil.
