The ultimate Christmas centrepiece! Juicy, tender, and coated in a sweet glaze of honey and spices, each bite is bursting with flavour. Easy to make, yet sure to impress—this ham will leave everyone wanting more!
Ingredients:
For the Glaze:
- 250g honey
- 125g brown sugar
- 65g Dijon mustard
- 65g cup apple juice
Method:
- Prepare the Ham:
- Preheat your oven to 165°C
- Score the fat in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife, being careful not to cut into the meat
- Bake the Ham:
- Place the ham on a rack in a large roasting pan, flat side down I used a 2.5kg piece
- Cover the ham loosely with aluminium foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 .5 hours approx (30min per 500grms)
- Prepare the Glaze:
- While the ham is baking, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and ground cloves in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved, and the glaze is smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Glaze the Ham:
- Remove the foil from the ham and brush a generous amount of the glaze all over the ham.
- Roast the Ham:
- Return the ham to the oven and bake, uncovered, for an additional 15-30 minutes, basting with more glaze every 10 minutes. The ham should develop a deep, caramelized colour.
- Rest and Serve:
- Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes before carving.
