Why are farmers protesting across the EU and what does it mean?

One of the biggest thorns in their side is the fluctuations in prices for their goods. From dairy products to grains, the market is currently so unpredictable that its leaving farmers scrambling to adapt to ever-changing conditions. For example, we have recently reported on issues with potato crops across farms - we had such a huge downpour of rain during last seasons planting, that nearly 1 million tonnes of potatoes were left to rot in the ground because they physically couldn't be dug up.

Over the last few weeks we have seen some huge delays to shipping, and now that UK farmers are starting to join in on protest, it is becoming even more of an issue. A few weekends back, there was an attempt to block the port of Dover which caused delays on produce due to arrive with us. Whilst we are doing our best to source from elsewhere, this is not always possible and we may run out of stock until things settle down.
