Break Free

Break Free is one of COP's main projects, and it's the one that our team often volunteers for!

"Families experiencing financial pressures are not only at greater risk of food insecurity, family stress, isolation, and poor health during the school holidays, but they also miss out on the so-called social “enrichment activities” such as trips, sporting, cultural and learning activities enjoyed by better-off young people. Rather than looking forward to the school holidays, they have become for many a stressful time, when families who already struggle find it even harder to provide for their young people." ~ Community of Purpose

Break Free aims to tackle this issue by providing exciting activities, friends, food to the children who need it. So far in 2025, they have helped 1624 young people, as well as having 7 years of experience running these sessions!

They offer various activities throughout the holidays, such as farm visits, circus trips, Christmas parties, ice skating, sports & craft days, aqua parks and more! It's a fantastic variety that allows young people to try new things throughout their time off school, as well as make new friends with the other people who take part in the activities. 80% of the attendees said that they have made new friends through Break Free, and 97% said they would go again!
