In this blog posts, we’ll be running through our favourite gourmet breakfast recipes – along with a few more exotic ideas to get your guests excited.

American Style Pancakes

Commonplace in the states, these delicious pancakes are rarely seen on menus here in the UK. They’re easy to make, can be prepared in advance, taste wonderful and are the perfect way to start the day – what’s not to love?

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together, eggs, milk and melted butter.
  3. Combine both mixtures and beat until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Add a ladle of batter to a hot frying pan, cook until both sides are golden brown.

The beauty of these pancakes is they can be served with almost anything, fresh fruit and yoghurt, classic maple syrup and bacon, peanut butter and chopped nuts – the possibilities are endless, so have fun with it.

The Ultimate Full English Breakfast

Every hotel offers up a full English, so it’s important for yours to stand out – here’s our recipe selection for the ‘ultimate’ full English breakfast.

Bacon – Good bacon is the heart of any English breakfast. Ensure you use high quality bacon and asks your guests how they’d like it cooked.

Sausages –  Again, quality is key here. Offering a range of different sausages (including veggie ones!) helps you cater for all your guests.

Eggs – Always use free range! Make sure you give guests the option of poached, scrambled or fried. Extra points for offering eggy bread.

Fried Potatoes – Fried or sautéed potatoes are delicious and so underused. Simply cut potatoes into rough chunks, fry in olive oil until golden brown, season and serve.

Black Pudding – Not for everyone, be sure to have black pudding as an ‘optional extra’, this will keep guests happy and reduce food waste.

Beans – Don’t slop them on the plate, serve in a separate ramekin to avoid a flood of bean juice.

Toast – Use a good quality loaf, our Sherston Thick Sliced bread from Hobbs House makes the best toast in the world!

Mushrooms – Button mushrooms are ideal for a full English, you can cook these alongside your fried potatoes.
